About Us

Centre for Rural Education Research and Development Association (CENTREREDA)

Our work ensures holistic community development and economic self-reliance for marginalized families in Dindigul, Theni, and Madurai districts.

Founded in 1986, Centre for Rural Education Research and Development Association (CENTREREDA) focuses on holistic rural development with a strong emphasis on education, women empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods. We use participatory, community-based approaches to create lasting social change and ensure inclusivity. Guided by our values of equity, social justice, and sustainability, we have partnered with Action for World Solidarity, WomenFirst International, and Aditya Birla Education Trust. Over the last 40 years, we have impacted over 90,000 lives, providing literacy, livelihood opportunities, and health awareness programs. Our initiatives have successfully empowered women, rescued child laborers, and promoted organic farming. We continue to serve rural communities across Dindigul, Theni, and Madurai districts, Tamil Nadu.

Farmer Livelihood Training Program

This program trained 1,500 smallholder farmers in organic cultivation methods, soil health management, and crop diversification techniques. Demonstrations were conducted on model farms to show practical approaches for improving yield and reducing chemical dependency. Farmers received guidance on composting, vermiculture, water management, and climate-resilient cropping patterns. The training encouraged adoption of low-cost sustainable practices that improved soil fertility and reduced input costs. Many farmers replicated these methods on their own land, resulting in better productivity and income stability. The program also helped form peer learning groups, enabling farmers to support each other and share best practices. These efforts led to the emergence of pilot organic farms in the region.

Digital Literacy Program for Youth

This program aims to equip rural and semi-urban youth with basic computer and internet skills. Participants are trained in using smartphones, email, online forms, and digital safety practices. The sessions help young people access online education, government services, and employment opportunities. Practical hands-on training builds confidence and reduces the digital divide. The program encourages responsible and productive use of technology.
